32nd Holiday Fair—an all church Project!
November 1st 9 AM till 4 PM
Here we go again—a Mission Trip you don’t have to leave home for! The survey of the congregation showed that we want to have the Holiday Fair. The problem was that those who volunteered to help were mostly those who have helped for years. “Mostly” means we did have some new help promised which we appreciate very much.
Here’s a review of how the money was spent last year:
Our Holiday Fair profit was $3366 of which $1000 went to the UMW District for the good things they do. We donated $400 toward a new refrigerator.
We gave $500 to FUSION where Judy Free volunteers. FUSION stands for “Friends United to Shelter Indigent, Oppressed, and Needy”. It provides transitional housing for women and children who have become homeless through job loss or domestic violence.
We donated $400 to the Multi-Service Center Food Bank in time for the Federal Way Matching fund.
We donated $400 to the PTSA Clothing Bank (for new underwear and socks, the other clothing is donated). Lastly, $400 each was given to our church’s Sunshine Fund and Campership Fund.
You can suggest uses for this year’s gifts to local charities and church projects by putting a note in the UMW box in the office. We’ve already heard that new chairs for the sanctuary would benefit all of us.
We don’t ask for your attendance at monthly meetings so please decide to spend some time helping with the fair. There is such a variety of activities that some must be interesting to you. We’d especially like to encourage our younger members and our men to join the fair crew. We repeat—an all-church project! You’ll feel great being a part of such a fun and worthwhile fair—and with your help a successful one.
