Missions
Thank you for the Christmas Eve offerings!
The special offerings given at all three of our Christmas Eve services were devoted entirely to missions outreach. The funds were divided between:
- the Sunshine Fund (emergency fund available for those unable to pay their utility bills),
- the food bank at the Federal Way Multiservice Center, and
- the Jamaa Letu orphanage located in Lubumbashi, Congo. On a previous mission trip, members of our congregation helped to build the girl's orphanage. Our gifts will be dedicated toward health care needs of the children in the orphanage.
Back from Haiti!
Federal Way United Methodist Church participated in Haiti’s call for help.
A team of six FWUMC church members and four other church members spent
Oct. 3-12 in Haiti.

YOUTH MISSION
The summer of 2010 found a team of 11 from FW United Methodist’s youth program heading to Seattle Aug. 7th-15th. Unlike previous years where the youth mission trip was with an organized company like Youthworks or ASP, this one was entirely put together by the mission team. The freedom this allowed provided for tons of wonderful growing opportunities along with flexibility in putting the trip together.
The theme was developed around helping those experiencing homelessness within Seattle, especially teens. The team faced challenges, such as finding a place to call home for the week in First Covenant Church downtown, to finding ways to get a shower or two during the week, to what else could be done to help those experiencing homelessness other than just feeding programs, to also mixing in spiritual and team growth too.
It all came together in a HUGE success, as shown in the video created. The team was able to work with great companies such as New Horizons, Teen Feed, Wintoia, St. Maries Food Bank, and First United Methodist Church. One of the most memorable moments shared by the team members was the 200 kits they put together through fundraising. They were filled with essential items to hand out directly on the streets of Seattle.
